1. Best time to visit the Bahamas:

Well known for its year-round warm, tropical climate, travelling to the Bahamas can be a li’l dicey. There are two types of seasons that might affect your travelling decisions: hurricane season occurs June through November and the rainy season during the months of May through October. So, plan ahead with keeping this in mind.


2. Currency and Banking:

It’s the Bahamian dollar which is at par with the American dollar. Credit cards are accepted at most of the places. Availability of ATMs is also ample and it’s also equipped with +PLUS and Cirrus systems, making this place convenient for every kind of traveller.


3. Transportation:

Vacationers can get around the Bahamas in a variety of ways: taxi cabs, rental cars, motor scooters and jitney buses are available throughout the island. You may use your own driver’s lice4nse for up to three months, and then you are required to obtain a Bahamian license. Needless to say, if you’re riding a scooter, make sure to wear a helmet. Since UK rules are applied in the Bahamas, please drive on your left.


4. Travelling with pets:

If you are about to travel with your pet, you’ll need to apply for a valid import permit. You’ll be required to fill the following information in the application process: kind of animal, breed, age, sex, country of embarkation and a $10 processing fee. All import permits are provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade and Industry in Nassau, Paradise Island.


5. Tourist Information Centers:

A number of tourist information centres are available in Freeport/Lucaya:

· Grand Bahama International Airport

· Port Lucaya Marketplace

· Lucayan Cruise Facility


6. Apparels:

Since it’s mostly warm through the day, casual summer wear or beach wears can be put into consideration. But make sure to pack a jacket/sweater for cooler evenings.
